Which material were used by Stacey for creating Surfboards Wolf

Another great thing from Stacey is Surfboards Wolf. The equipment is designed like a step-up surfboard, only in a smaller version.

She is a great solution to small trips or light Indonesian waters.

The pros of Stacey Wolf outfit:

  • a very cool wave for standing rides in a much smaller shape;
  • can cope with powerful waves that are high in height.

Minuses of Stacey Wolf Surfboard:

  • discrepancy between the size of most athletes and this surfboard.

The best waves to her are the high ones, which are on the cliffs of the reef or on some beaches.

Sapboarding is a relatively young sports discipline, but its history goes back to the distant past.

The abbreviation “SUP” stands for Stand Up Paddle (from English “rowing”), and paddle boarding is a type of surfing.

Modern “standing surfing” is developing at a very fast pace, and this happens for several reasons at once. Even a child can usually cope with the task of mastering a surfboard with a paddle.

With the versatility of SUP boarding, you don’t have to have a bungalow in Hawaii or fly every week to the California coast for constant training.

All you need is any reservoir, pad and desire.

sup board

Surfing historians claim that glanders as a discipline originated, like surfing itself, in the Hawaiian Islands. Sapboarding is designated a native Hawaiian sport.

The origins of the discipline are rooted in the ancient history of local peoples. A probable prototype of a paddle  stacey wolf surfboard is a canoe, on which representatives of many South American peoples have traveled since ancient times.

Driving a light boat while standing with the help of one oar, directing it with the current and without attracting unnecessary noise, it was possible to quietly penetrate into enemy territory.

In addition, the paddle can be used immediately as a spear. Historians consider canoeing not only as a prototype of paddleboarding, but surfing in general.

 Wikipedia Standup paddleboarding

Due to its specificity, the wolf surfboard to this type of surfing is usually longer and wider than the  Stacey Wolf board of an ordinary surfer, and therefore it is difficult to go out into the open sea and catch a wave on it, just raking with your hands. This is what the paddle is used for.

Hawaiians built padboards out of wood, and some of the Wolf Stacey boards were up to six meters long.

As a rule, the largest and most impressive Stacey surfboards belonged to members of the royal family, who did not miss the opportunity to show off in the management technique of such a giant on the waves.

The Kahanamoku Wolf surfboard is classic for Wolf surfboards of this time – it is made of wood and differs from the usual surfboard only in size. Duke Kahanamoku has inspired many wave-catching fans to sup surfboard.

Mostly local athletes moved on the surfboard while sitting, entering the wave with the help of a paddle, but many, like Duke, fly while standing.

Paddle boarding entered a new round of popularity at the beginning of the 21st century, and Rick Thomas is considered the popularizer of modern paddle boarding in the USA.

Hawaiian surfers Brian Keaulana, Archie Kalepa, Rick Thomas, as well as world surfing legend Laird Hamilton used sup-boarding to solve the problem of training on the water in complete calm.

An alternative way of dealing with the calm was picked up by local surfers, many even decided not to part with the paddle at all.

Surfing enthusiast Deborah Thomas is considered the first woman to paddle Stacey Wolf surfboard and take up paddleboarding seriously.

In 2005, the first pad company was established. In 2007, the discipline was presented with its own edition.

In the summer of 2007, enthusiasts came up with a name – Standup Journal – and decided to do it seriously, and in March of the next year their first issue was published.

Standup Journal

The first major competition took place on August 8, 2007 on the shores of Lake Tahoe in California. It was a seven-mile race between 34 participants that kicked off the Ta-Ho-Nalu Paddle Festival.

This is how supboarding gained its modern popularity.

Standing surfboards are 65 centimeters wide and can go up to 1 meter. Thanks to the pad’s surface, which is wider than the surface of a regular Stacey surfboard, even beginners can resist on the Stacey board.

The length of the Stacey surfboard ranges from 3.2 to 4 meters.

Supplier equipment is mainly produced by the same companies that supply surfboards and equipment to the market.

Surfing and SUP boarding Stacey boards and equipment are different, however.

sup

The main materials for the production of a pad are the lightest materials: epoxy resin, fiberglass, wood, carbon and others.

The latter makes the lightest supboards, but they are the most expensive on the market.

There are even inflatable Wolf surfboards that are very compact and thus save their owner from transportation problems.

Wolf Sapboards come in two main categories, each of which can be divided into subcategories: surfboards and rowing Wolf boards.

Wolf Sapboards of the first category are compact (if this word generally applies to three-meter giants), have a length of about 2.9 meters, they are more maneuverable and fast.

Rowing Wolf boards are less fast, but easier to stand on. As a rule, there are two length standards to such SUPboards – 3.8 meters and 4.3 meters.

Fierce controversy among fans of this unusual sports discipline arises when the question is, which pad is better – rigid or inflatable?

By rigid, we mean all types of Wolf Stacey boards that cannot be let out and put in a bag or in the trunk of a car.

There is an opinion that rigid Wolf supboards are usually chosen by craftsmen, for the same reason rigid fiberglass Stacey boards are much more expensive than any premium inflatable WOlf surfboard.

However, there is a counterargument that a true professional should be able to handle any Stacey board. Nevertheless, inflatable paddles are easier to store, they are unpretentious in terms of maintenance and care compared to rigid ones, and, of course, they are cheaper.

In general, the market offers a huge number of supboards to every taste and budget.

In our country, a new glanders can be purchased for 20-30 thousand rubles. Some advanced models cost 100-150 thousand rubles each.

A subboard can also be brought from abroad, if, of course, you are not afraid of difficulties with transporting or shipping the board.

Buying a SUP

Supporters and just experienced surfers recommend not to rush to part with your money, but to begin with, take a SUP Stacey surfboard to rent and do several heats.

It is quite possible that someone will immediately dislike the new idea and buying a pad will not bring much joy.

There are no particularly stringent requirements for paddle Stacey Wolf surfboards. Generally, the best paddle length is the athlete’s height plus 20 centimeters.

Due to the simplicity in the manufacture of oars, you can buy a sports equipment for yourself in almost any sports store. As a rule, their cost varies from 3 to 20-25 thousand rubles.

The most expensive paddles are made of carbon fiber, the cheapest options are made of aluminum.

Leash sup

Leash (a safety leash, which is attached to the athlete’s ankle with one side and the other to the Stacey surfboard) should be approximately 30 cm longer than the pad.

Its purchase is everyone’s decision, but it is worth remembering that if the leash falls, it will not allow the Stacey surfboard to go free swimming.

The fin of a Wolf paddleboard is generally accepted as 13-15 inches for rowing and 7-10 inches for surfing.

If you do not take into account additional accessories (suits, bags, fasteners for the car, etc.), which are happily and in large quantities on the market, then the question of equipment can be considered closed.

Sapboarding is also great because you don’t need to rush to the Hawaiian coast and catch a big wave to practice “standing surfing”.

A subboarder will be happy even with a calm sea bay, a quiet river backwater, a slow river flow or an absolutely smooth lake surface.

You can just stand and paddle, contemplating the water surface and admiring the landscape. And most of the supporters learned to stand more or less confidently on the Stacey zwolf surfboard on the first day of training.

That is why this discipline is so popular among ordinary water sports enthusiasts.

Stand Up Paddle Board Lessons

Ideally, it is best to learn a new sport with an instructor or friend who already has experience in SUP boarding. If there are none, then a faithful friend of the Internet will come to the rescue.

Go to specialized forums, thematic sites and watch the video. This is usually enough to learn the basics of Wolf board management.

For the first experience, you need to choose a calm place; the best option would be a quiet river or lake.

You shouldn’t try to ride a big wave on the first day of training. Perhaps it will not be superfluous and leash. It’s even better if you have a life jacket.

First you need to put the zwolf surfboard on the water, lie on it and swim a little from the shore. Then you need to kneel down.

Once you feel confident and balanced, you can try to get to your feet.

Hands rest on the front of the Stacey surfboard, then the first leg rises, after it the second. Standing on all fours, you can try to get to your feet.

For the first time, you need to stand strictly in the middle of the Stacey surfboard. With a little getting used to, you can try to move around the Wolf board, again maintaining balance and trying not to fall into the water.

Now you can start swimming.

The island state of Indonesia is located at the junction of the Pacific and Indian Oceans and consists of 17 thousand small and large islands.

There is such a mixture of currents and winds, such an area for waves that surfers are drawn here like a magnet.

Moreover, the most stable and largest waves are observed in the south and in the southwestern part of the country, washed by the Indian Ocean.

In many tropical and equatorial countries, the weather is distinguished not by the seasons, but by two seasons: dry and wet.

In Indonesia, the same – the temperature of air and water in the oceans almost the whole year warms up evenly, above + 24 + 26 ° С. But in the period from November to April, tropical showers come to the spots, especially strong in our winter – in December and January.

They do not pour all day long, but several hours a day, so even in the rainy season surfers find time for their training. True, the waves are weaker at this time.

Much stronger and longer waves are formed in the dry season, which lasts from April-May to October.

In general, the surfing season in Indonesia is from March to November, so surfers prefer to visit the best spots in the fall, summer and spring.

indonesia surfing

Several thousand spots in Indonesia are popular with surfers from all over the world.

At the same time, some islands offer foreign guests a full range of tourist services: from surf schools and shops with sports equipment to hospitals and water parks. These include Java and Bali.

Most of the Indonesian islands are still deserted or sparsely inhabited, surfers and surfers who do not need comfort and additional entertainment come here.

Best Surf Breaks in Canggu, Bali

Bali is the main destination to surfers choosing Indonesia as a destination to  recreation and sports. Not the largest spot in Indonesia has the most developed tourism industry.

The choice of resorts, beaches and spots is huge here. There are no problems with surf camps, instructors and surf guides, as they are available in every resort, washed by at least low waves.

There are many surf schools to beginner athletes who are just getting on the Wolf boards, there are also world-class instructors who prepare professionals for tournaments and competitions.

Popular spots are located on the southwestern and southern sides, washed by the open Indian Ocean, are Uluwatu, Kuta and others.

In addition to surfing, there is always something to do in Bali, e.g., shopping, trips to natural or religious sites, such as the Bird Park in Ubud or to the many temples.

Lombok is an island east of Bali. They do not differ much in size, but Lombok is much quieter and less visited.

There is no such developed tourist infrastructure here, and therefore prices are more affordable.

java island

Java is the most populous island in Indonesia and in the whole world.

It was here that the remains of the oldest human ancestor were found, and half of the world’s coffee harvest grows here.

There is no mass surfing, tourists come to the shore either by passing through the capital’s airport in Jakarta, or to get acquainted with the nature, history and architecture of Java.

Standing spot in Java – G-land, its huge waves obey only high-class surfing masters.

Sumatra island

Sumatra and islets on its western side.

In comparison with Bali, the island of Sumatra in terms of the development of the tourism sector, including the surf industry, is at an early stage of development.

In Sumatra itself, it is difficult to find instructors or sports equipment rental offices. But the waves near the island are so good that fans hire a schooner and cruise along the west coast of Sumatra in search of a better wave.

Such a surf safari is not safe, because you have to spend the night on a ship or on small uninhabited islands far from civilization. Only physically prepared athletes should embark on an extreme journey.

There is also a unique offer in Sumatra – surfing on the Kampar River, in the town of Bono.

With a successful combination of circumstances (water difference between high tide and low tide, current speed), a wave up to 3 m high is generated at the river mouth, rising up the river. And the usual daily tidal waves in the river reach 1.5 m, sometimes surfers spend an hour standing on the Wolf Stacey surfboard, climbing them 30-50 km inland!

Mentawai is a group of islands in western Sumatra where waves are comparable to the best waves in the world.

Accommodation, entertainment and use of the infrastructure on the islands is expensive, true connoisseurs of surfing come here, not counting the costs of their hobby.

The nature on the islands has retained its original appearance, technical progress and construction boom did not get here, and small guesthouses and comfortable bungalows are offered to accommodate tourists.

On the famous island of Nias, the wave was always good, and after the 2004 tsunami, it became more concave and faster, since the reef forming it grew by 1 m.

Nusa Tenggara island

Nusa Tenggara is a group of uninhabited islands, where only lovers of exoticism and solitude are chosen, because the waves here are the most ordinary, average level, subject even to beginners.

But one spot, surrounded by the cliffs of Lakey Beach on the island of Sumbawa, is recommended exclusively to experienced professionals familiar with the features of the coastal relief, since the bottom near the coast is sandy and even, and a little deeper – rocky.

Ocean waves are unpredictable and can be violently thrown against rocks.

People usually come here as part of a surf tour from Bali or other islands by water transport.

Since there is not a large selection of hotels on Nusa Tenggara, you will have to spend the night right on a boat or schooner, so you should choose a vehicle with the prospect of spending several days on it.

Surfing Indonesia

The most advanced Indonesian island with a developed tourist infrastructure is Bali.

This is where most of the schools, surf camps, sports equipment stores and Stacey surfboard rental shops are concentrated.

The instructors in the country work both locals and foreigners speaking different languages. In Bali, there is the possibility of training with Russian-speaking trainers or even in Russian surf schools.

On any inhabited island, various options for guesthouses are rented: from comfortable apartments to primitive bungalows.

The largest choice of accommodation is available in Java and Bali (up to five-star all-inclusive hotels), with the latter all the infrastructure geared specifically towards tourists, including surfers.

Here, at large and international surf schools, there are year-round surf hotels, and during peak season, temporary tent camps are additionally set up on the beaches.

surfer

Medicine in Indonesia is quite developed, and assistance to injured tourists is provided in numerous hospitals or first-aid posts.

For foreign tourists, any manipulation or procedure in the hospital is paid.

Surfing is an extreme sport where there is a high risk of injury (bruises on the Wolf surfboard or stones, cuts).

In Indonesia, an additional risk is given by the sharp reefs that are strewn with the coastal bottom of the islands, do not forget about strong currents and sharks. Therefore, sometimes the vacation costs athletes a lump sum.

International insurance helps to minimize the risk of financial losses in the event of an injury, which must be arranged before the trip.
