Where to try out your new Sculpt surfboard, its pros and cons

One of my all-time favorite monster surfboards. This outfit is a half fish shaped short surfboard that features a wide contour and tail and a flat rocker.

This item will perform well on a wide variety of waves and under any possible conditions. That being said, you can always expect good performance from her, wherever you are.

Sculpt surfboard is equipped with side projections behind the fins and also has a wide, rounded tail. Therefore, you can immediately judge that this thing was created in order to achieve maximum performance, liveliness and responsiveness during the trip.

Due to the wide contour here, rowing is very easy and smooth. You can acquire such a good surfboard by being at any level of your abilities on the tides.

Positive aspects of sculpt equipment:

  • sculpt surfboard is maximally designed for medium and high Sydney tides and copes with them perfectly;
  • sculpt board is designed for high performance on not too large and rather soft tides;
  • this surfboard is very light, which will help in rowing, and it is also a beast in your hands.

Minuses of sculpt surfboards:

  • I didn’t find them, this is my best surfboard in my life.

Best Tide Type

I advise you to ride with sculpt surfboard in Sydney because I tried this gear here and it does a great job with high waves that reach several feet above your head, but behaves very well on smaller waves.

If Polynesia is considered the birthplace of surfing, then Australia is the place from where the great surf fever spread at the beginning of the last century.

Today surfing in  Australia is the same national symbol as the Sydney Opera House or the kangaroo.

Since surfing is taught here to children at school, during physical education lessons, famous pro-riders appear like mushrooms after rains in the forests of the Moscow region. Surf culture in Australia is developed in the same way as in Hawaii.

On weekends, tanned boys and girls with white-toothed smiles and burnt-out blonde hair grab the surfboards and head to the nearest beach to enjoy the tides. And this is not a scene of a youth series, but real life.

Surfers looking for the perfect tide should definitely visit Sydney. The city has dozens of beaches and a distinctive Australian culture of relaxed surfing.

If you don’t want to spend time on the crowded Bondi Beach and Manly Beach, you have a choice!

Where to surf

Sydney Surf School

The Australian coast is washed by the Pacific, Indian and Southern Oceans.

The largest number of surf spots is concentrated in the region of the states of Queensland (the legendary Gold Coast) and New South Wales, in the south of the mainland – in the vicinity of Melbourne and Adelaide and in the southwest – on the coast of the Indian Ocean.

The Gold Coast is a paradise to right-handed point breakers.

It is to these parts that surfers from all over the world come to catch almost the longest wave on Earth – Snapper Rocks. In a good forecast, this tide guarantees travel over a kilometer, so train your legs to hold on for as long as possible.

By the way, this is also one of the most dangerous spots, and all because of its popularity, the level of manifestation of localism is off scale, and a quick reaction is necessary to have time to dodge surfers and their surfboards flying by.

Snapper Rox starts working at 3 feet, and in a strong swell reaches 10 feet.

Gold Coast Beach Australia

The locals are most interested in beach breaks with sand banks forming a shoal, and are eagerly awaiting a suitable forecast.

A must-see is the large and noisy Surfer Paradise beach, the hallmark of the Gold Coast.

There is entertainment to every taste: street performers, cafes and restaurants, tall skyscrapers (one of them, the Q1 skyscraper, has a surf museum), a Ferris wheel and, of course, surf waves. A good chance to ride in the heart of a big city.

The coast of New South Wales is generally one big spot.

Here everyone will find their own wave to their taste: reefs, sand, stones, tides to beginners, intermediate and kamikaze.

The main thing is to keep yourself in control and not go crazy with this abundance.

Perhaps the most famous beach is Bondi Beach, located in the southern part of Sydney. The favorable location attracts all sorts of tourists here, but the majority, of course, are surfers.

Here, after an excellent session, you can stroll through the bars, enjoy a barbecue and imperceptibly night will come with noisy parties. If you love not only surfing, but also fun, you should definitely come here.

There are places with good waves suitable to surf almost the entire length of Australia’s coastline. There are about one and a half thousand spots.

The most popular spots to  try sculpt equipment are concentrated near large cities, where there are international airports to athletes and novice surfers from all over the world.

Some popular spots:

  • Kirra;
  • Palm beach;
  • Burleigh Heads;
  • Snapper Rocks (ranked among the best surf beaches in the world).

Quicksilver Pro Hawaii

The Gold Coast is home to the world’s largest Quiksilver Pro competition. Over the course of two weeks in February, experienced surfers compete to qualify for the final competition in Hawaii.

North of the Gold Coast is the city of Cairns, where along with surfing, diving at the Great Barrier Reef is popular.

Australia’s largest city – Sydney – will also delight you with spots, and right within the city limits.

In the south of the country, Melbourne beaches can be distinguished, for example, Bells Beach. It also hosts the Rip Curl Easter Pro competition, which is accompanied by music concerts.

Sydney surfing

In the Adelaide area (South Australia), the waves are not so severe, great for beginners. You can recommend them the Vivonne or Stokes spots, while the Hanson and D’Estress bays are waiting for only professionals.

Another place where professionals come to great waves is the south of the west bank, the city of Margaret River, standing on the river of the same name.

There are about 70   spots in the vicinity of the city, of which several are serious: The Box, Main Break, and it is on these spots that Drug Aware Pro races are held.

Professionals love to train also on Surfer Point and Ningaloo reefs, Kalbari and Strickland coves. The waves are very high and active here.

Just north of Margaret River is the city of Perth, from which you can get to the famous surf spots Madora Bay, Trigg, Claytons and Scarborough.

Surf season

You can ride in Australia all year round. Only conditions change depending on the season.

It is worth remembering that the opposite is true here. No, people don’t walk on their heads, well, only if the party is very hot. When it’s winter, it’s summer in Australia and vice versa.

From April to October, the water gets colder, bring a 3/2 mm wetsuit to surf the east coast. From November to March it is warm here and you can ride in sculpt surfboard shorts.

The best waves come here in the spring months. In the south, the water is always colder: for the summer, choose a 3/2 mm wetsuit, and for winter, 4/3 mm or more will do.

Surfer's Guide to Sydney

Moreover, during our winter, the air and water there are even warmer than in summer. If the sun has hidden and the weather is cool, and the waves are conducive to skiing, then wetsuits come to the rescue, which protect the body from hypothermia.

On sunny days, it is recommended to smear the body with a special cream to protect the skin from ultraviolet rays.

So, the surfing season in Australia starts in November and ends in March-April.

All big competitions, stages of the Surf Championship are held in February. The temperature at this time reaches 27 ° C.

By spring the waves become not so strong and high, in August-September it is already difficult to find suitable waves. The water temperature does not drop below 20–25 ° С all year round.

Difficulties

sharks and surfing

The biggest problem for Australian surfers is sharks of all kinds, sizes and tastes. Attacks happen quite often, but on crowded beaches, rescuers immediately warn about the appearance of sharks, everyone is instantly evacuated.

The second difficulty is the high cost of living. But here you can get a quality Sculpt surfboard from your favorite shaper.

Localism occurs only in highly crowded spots. In general, the local surfers are quite peaceful and friendly, answer them in kind.

Sculpt facility has a very wide and bold outline for maximum balance. The design of sculpt garment is very interesting as Sculpt is specially compressed in order to obtain a rounded square tail.

Sculpt equipment has two flat rockers, the largest at the nose and allows for greater steering degrees. Also has very sensitive rails.

There are hundreds of large surf schools operating in the surfing country, some of them are open only to Russian tourists and athletes, others teach classes in several languages.

Anywhere in the country you can find a school that will offer a course of study that is suitable in terms of duration, intensity and cost for any person.

The cost of a two-week training for beginners with accommodation is within thousand dollars and depends on the experience of the instructor, the comfort of placement, the number of training hours.
