All the pros and cons of JS OCCY Surfboard and its main ideas

OCCY model has improved my skills thanks to the additional inner size to other advanced surfboards.

Not a new one, but still a good option.

Pros:

  • Pulling force in higher waves and having the contour designed for tempo.
  • Accurate, light in movement.
  • Good for abrupt waves despite the fact it has a thicker bottom curve.

Surfboard’s cons:

  • I did not manage to use it in waves almost half of the person’s height except when there is a decent push (strong continual bottom waves).JS OCCY surfboard

What I Tested

The OCCY of the size of 6’4 (1.93 meters) x 19 1/2 x 2 5/8. You will find the normal size of the board later here.

Almost half of the person’s height up to a bit higher.  Abrupt, pushy waves.

  • Thicker front and rear bottom curve.
  • It is okay when you make little mistakes on the OCCY, but it also has flexible middle-size rails.
  • Adaptable contour appropriate for a whole range of professional training quality.
  • 3-fin surfboard.
  • Abrupt waves are good for the solid circular rear part.

Opponents:

  • Opinion on the Channel Islands Fred Rubble surfboard: this belongs to the list of the boards preferred by me, but it works better in high waves.
  • Opinion on the Stacey Snake Eyes surfboard: its contour seems to have another appearance, but I prefer both these models in alike (decent) situations.
  • Opinion on the Haydenshapes Ando surfboard: soft model, letting you make some mistakes and take on the task immediately.

JS Occy Raging Bull

In the past, I repeatedly strove to use shorter and shorter boards because I expected it would improve my skills.

OCCY is what a lot of surfers wish. I do not know the reason I considered it to be true.

Maybe, I took it at face value because I saw skilled surfers easily ride waves at high tempo being on mini match-size surfboards.

In any case, the normal advanced surfboards that I was using felt too little in the course of time. It was too difficult for me to surf properly. In the end, my skills began to degrade which was disappointing.

After that, I came across OCCY board which is signed by Mark Occhilupo.

Until that moment, I had not been concerned about the volume.

After that, I realized that it had required not much of an effort to surf and gain velocity. Moreover, I managed to make a sharp fall and show a couple of turns in the end.

Everything was effortless with OCCY surfboard. In addition, it seemed I was upgrading my skills.

Soft and accurate, some time after I took OCCY and have surfed in my area, I tried OCCY in waves higher than the person’s height.

It was in Uluwatu.

It functioned ideally in abrupt waves. Thanks to additional pulling force, I rode such waves that other surfers did not manage to ride.

Got too much sun, worn-out and breathed-out.

Despite that OCCY surfboard features a minor bottom curve all along the board, it is one of the best short boards for me for high waves.

But yet, it was hard for me to master OCCY (particularly, in not so strong waves, smaller than the person’s height). I think that it is so because I had got used to the bigger inner size of the surfboards that I prefer.

All in all, OCCY type is perfect for high waves.
