What Kinds Of Noses We Can Find
The top part of the surfboard is its nose. The designers of the equipment took into account the fact that this feature is crucial at the beginning of surfing.
The front part has a different width, thickness, and curving lines.
Surfers can choose among the following kinds of bows:
Sharp Nose
The greatest part of high-level surfboards (thrusters among them) features a sharp front part.
As opposed to the rounded-nose surfboard, the edged kind gives more rail bend to the body.
It is very helpful during the times when the front part of the surfboard plunges into the water. Namely, it protects the item from bubbling when it dives into steep waves.
The smaller volume makes it very easy to plunge into a wave. With the kind of rounded bow, it is much more difficult to dash it into the water.
Rounded-Point Nose
It is a transitional form between a sharp and completely rounded nose.
This kind of equipment has additional volume at the head. It gets easier to ride the wave and find your balance.
You should take into consideration, though, that it takes more effort to control this kind of surfboard.
Rounded Nose
Thanks to this form, the surface of the surfboard bow is bigger which makes the equipment more balanced.
Normally, the surfboards are made with a rounded nose so that the surfer can ride with the forepart.
The surfers can skim on the surface with such a kind of bow very easily because most of their body is not plunged in the water.
Ridden Nose
There are also boards having the bow the surfer can ride on. In this case, the surfers hang down the front of the surfboard with their feet.
Such kinds of foreparts are most often thicker. This is done for the front to bear the extra load.
