Expert’s opinion on Haydenshapes Shred Sled surfboard and its ideas

Haydenshapes Shred is a thicker advanced surfboard for higher waves. It gives an impression of a quick board and as though does everything itself under your feet, no matter the conditions you have.

Pros of Haydenshapes board

  • It manages swells of a person’s height or more (twice as much) without difficulties regardless of its styling features.
  • It has a broader contour on plane areas and a drawn in rear part thanks to the sides; thanks to this, you get better handleability.
  • Thanks to the materials and methods used, it features less weariness compared to a polyurethane board. That stands for a prolonged service life at a decent level.

Cons

  • Its size is not sufficient. I got an impression that Sled board required higher and more decent waves.
  • It seems sluggish on lower, less powerful waves.

What I Tested

The Haydenshapes Shred Sled board. Dimensions: 6’4 (1.93 meters) x 20 ¼ x 2 5/8. You will find the normal size of Sled board later here.

What It Fits

More massive, pushy swells of a person’s height or more (maybe twice as much).

Properties of Shred

  • One-of-a-kind contour — thick, broad circular rear part after the uplifted side which provides advanced surfing and turns in waves of various kinds.
  • The uplifted side makes the contour linear in the middle which gives tempo and you feel the Sled much better.
  • The mass of the foil makes it rest on waves which gives you the sense of interrelation.
  • Isolated hollow a fore, isolated to dual hollow in the middle and a vee dual at rear.
  • It features five fins with whole rails.
  • Rail made of carbon without that thin strip of wood.
  • The bottom curve with the plane middle part, a middle-size front part and a little to middle-size rear part.

Opponents

  • Opinion on JR Voodoo Haydenshapes: rather an up-to-date advanced board which manages higher swells all the same.
  • Opinion on Misfit Surfboards Shadow Puppet Shred: it requires thrust to work in properly, I prefer this one.
  • Opinion on Lost Mini Driver Board: designed to stand out no matter the situation.

Main ideas of Haydenshapes Shred Sled

Surfboard Shred Sled

Greetings! We are happy to see you again. We haven’t tried this very kind of the surfboard before. I had its version with the rail made of carbon without the thin strip of wood which was called FiberFlex. I took it to use for some period and get some opinion on it.

Some time has passed, I used Haydenshapes surfboard and I exchanged it in the end. The reason for that was the fact that I got damages from it several times.

It happens not so often, but I could not have more, that is why I exchanged it as a result. Nevertheless, I enjoyed Haydenshapes Shred.

When looking at Shred surfboard, I get an impression that Shred could fit lower waves. It has some features of a surfboard of a fish type and advanced parts, as well.

I would say Sled belongs more a group of advanced, high-wave surfboard, not middle-level boards or little to middle wave surfboard. This is so because of the fact it lacks the thickness in Shred.

The 6’4 (1.93 meters) that I had was giving a decent level of drive thanks to the thickness. But I got an impression that when riding the Sled surfboard, the wave should be higher to have that drive despite the fact it is full inside.

It is noticeable by the appearance of the bottom curve that it is surely rather a decent-quality wave, advanced Shred surfboard, the bottom curve with plane middle part and a great deal of the bottom curve in the rear part and the front part.

As I got some impression on Haydenshapes, I can say it suits better the waves higher than the person’s height and even more. I really enjoyed riding it.

The downside is regardless of the fact it has a broad contour which is pretty noticeable, it draws in at the small uplifted side which means it becomes broader in the middle. It also becomes more flexible as it draws the rear part abaft.

Although Haydenshapes has a broader contour, I did get an impression Shred dives thoroughly to a greater extent into the wave and with more drive as I noticed it was a little sluggish as I was riding slightly lower troughs.

Some time later I bought Sled surfboard once more. I understood as I tested Shred that Sled did not stand on the wave the way I prefer it to do, namely similar to the polyurethane Haydenshapes surfboards.

But the reason for that was you need time to become accustomed to it.

All in all, as the company improved the methods they are using, Sled surfboard is close in experience to the polyurethane surfboards you are getting. The difference is they are slightly livelier.

Moreover, the materials do not wear so fast as they do not require the thin strip of wood breadthwise.

What they implemented has bigger service life and can do with much more deformation later on.

I am saying it once more, this surfboard suits a person’s height waves or bigger. Or, I could say, twice as much.

As for me, I used it in the troughs almost twice the height. I heard many surfers prefer this surfboard.

This was my hands on the Shred Sled. I had not tried this type before.

Afterwards, I have used a few of them. I have several more to show in my opinion section in the future.

In case, you have the opportunity to test this board, I would be happy to hear your opinion.
