Features of parachute surfing: technique, strategy and tactics

parachute surfing

Parachuting or kitesurfing is boarding with a “kite.” The sport is quite challenging but exciting, suitable for those who like active recreation on the water.

A kite is used as a driving force, a kind of kite. Unlike most water sports, surfboarding does not require severe physical training. Even children can learn this.

The answer to what is called parachuting is simple – this is kitesurfing. The kite used for such riding has a particular sling system attached to a protective belt.

Management is done manually and does not require severe physical training. The main difficulties are balancing on the water to maintain a stable speed constantly.

To practice this sport, you will need essential equipment:

  • wetsuit (or special shorts);
  • protective helmet;
  • trapezoid.

The parachute weighs 2 kilograms and fits in a small bag.

Beginners are advised to rent equipment. It can be done right at the kitesurf school; this service is included in the price.

The design of the kit elements becomes more and more perfect every year, which means it is safe. The risk of injury is reduced, making this sport accessible even for children.

 Who is parachuting for?

Many people consider kite surfing to be a pretty traumatic sport. However, it is safer than other extreme recreation options and requires special physical training.

All control of an improvised parachute is done with the help of the strength of the hands.

Even children can do it. The only limitation is the weight is not less than 35 kilograms.

Professional equipment must have a well-thought-out safety system that reduces risks. Its correct use is part of the initial training course.

Where to learn

parachute surfing (kitesurfing)

Parachuting is a popular sport. There are many schools where it is possible to master these skills, especially since you cannot study independently – it is hazardous.

In classes with professionals, you will be helped to master the work with complex equipment; they will tell you the basic control principles. Only after lessons with an instructor is it possible to start skating independently.

The introductory course includes:

  1. theoretical basics;
  2. safety equipment for recreation on the water;
  3. basics of land governance.

The training for professional kiters is based on the ability to confidently stay on the water to take into account the speed and direction of the wind. Only after that, the practical lessons will begin.

The minimum course includes 8-10 classes. The best schools are located in Egypt, Morocco, the Philippines, and Spain.

Parachute surfing is possible not only on the sea but also on river water. The only condition is that it must be a flat, open reservoir. The most successful places are considered the sea coasts of exotic countries. Mauritius, Sri Lanka, and many Latin American countries are famous.

The specificity of training depends on the type of “snake.” It could be:

  • parafoil (similar in shape to a specific “airplane wing” made of nylon);
  • inflatable (better known among professionals as a “balloon”).

SLE is also “snakes,” shaped like a curved bow.

Security measures

Working with the wing is a constant risk. Therefore, to avoid problems, it is essential to adhere to the basic safety rules strictly:

  • You need to track the weather forecast;
  • Direction of the wind. The movement of air currents should be towards the coast to avoid “drift” into the sea;
  • the strength of his impulses;
  • the likelihood of a thunderstorm;
  • storm warnings.

Do not ride with a strong crowd of people, in places with a rocky bottom, snags, and other obstacles.

• Use clothing by weather conditions, wear a special helmet;

  • Never remove the security system – it is dangerous to life;
  • Make sure that the slings are not wrapped around the hands and any other body parts (with any jerk, this leads to severe consequences for life). You should always have a folding knife with you to cut them;
  • It is important to always avoid overloading, especially in significant winds;
  • Special care will be required when taking off or landing;
  • If the kite itself or the board is lost, it is imperative to inform the rescuers about it. Flying or floating uncontrolled, they can be dangerous to others. It is also an additional risk for marine animals and fish.

“Parachute” surfing is a valuable and exciting type of water recreation. However, it requires specific skills and careful preparation. Nevertheless, kitesurfing is an excellent hobby for adults and children with basic safety precautions.
